COLLAR

collar

It’s important to choose the proper shirt collar. You can change the entire feel of your ensemble with different choices of collars. For instance, you can dress your outfit up or down, gain a more formal appearance, or achieve a professional and polished look, all by just changing your collar style.
Even if you do have plenty of suits, you can stock up on different dress shirts if you need to change at the office for meetings, drink dates, or a night on the town.

We offer you a range of 6 collars, which are the French (Straight), Cut Away (Spread), Buttondown, San Remo, “Chinese Band," as well as the Formal Wing collar.

French Collar (Straight)

• The straight collar will complement nearly any facial structure, so it’s a rather safe choice for those who prefer simple shirts without too much risk.
• Straight collars are generally considered conservative.

• Straight collars allow for a little extra experimentation with color and design. Look for subtle patterns and inventive colors in shirts with straight collars.

Cut Away (Italian or Spread collar)

• Spread collars are considered dressier than straight collars, so consider more formal tie knots to accompany them, such as the Full Windsor Knot.
• Spread collars look particularly great with contrasting collar and cuffs, such as a blue shirt with white details.

• Spread collars have a sharper angle than the straight collar cut. This style of collar shows more fabric near the top of the placket.

Buttondown Collar

• The buttondown collar is less formal than other collar styles and can be worn with or without a tie.

• You can wear your buttondown collar shirts in a business-casual setting, but you won’t be able to experiment much with color. This collar looks best in basic blues and pinks.

San Remo

• Halfway between the Traditional and Spread Collars, the San Remo collar goes well with both round and thin faces.

• This collar comes with 2 buttons to button up the neck.

• Shirts with San Remo collars are not common and can be worn without tie for a casual look.

Chinese Band (Mandarin collar)

• Based on traditional Manchu or Mongol-influenced Asian garments.

Wing Collar

• The wing collar gets its name for its appearance. The front of this collar has folded-down tips that look just like a pair of wings.

• Wing collars are usually worn with formal outfits, such as tuxedos and other formal wear.

In addition to the occasion, you’ll need to consider the shape of your face:

• If you are leaner and more angular, you may like the Cut Away collar, which can make your face look slightly fuller.

• French or buttondown collars are recommended for those with full faces.

• San Remo is recommended for people willing to try something different. Like Cut Away collars, it will make your face look slightly fuller.
• Chinese band is just a matter of style and can be suitable for any face structure.
• Wing collars are sophisticated and can flatter any man who craves a contemporary appearance.

CUFFS

cuffs

There is no particular code about cuffs. All you need to know is that French cuffs (or double cuffs), are twice as long and worn folded back on themselves. French cuffs were once considered to be more formal than button cuffs, although they are seeing a resurgence in the business environment. Traditional dress required that French cuffs be worn with a tie and jacket. However, due to the emergence of business casual, French cuffs are now being worn without a tie or jacket.
Upon request, your cuffs can be made as “convertible” cuffs, which may be closed with buttons or with cufflinks.

FRONTSTYLE

frontstyle

Most shirts today feature a placket closure. This style gives the shirt a definite center line and creates a clean appearance where the sides of the shirt are buttoned. Placket fronts have stitching on either side of the buttons.
The American placket is a simple alternative to the front placket. Choose custom shirts with this style and you will have less to iron — an excellent choice for people who home launder their shirts.

The “hidden buttons” front is an imaginative, fashion forward look. The buttons are hidden behind two layers of fabric in front. Many men insist on this clean, contemporary, no-button look.
If you want to go wild and chose a different color for the buttons or the buttonholes, it is possible (our tailors usually select them so that they blend with the color of the shirt’s fabric) .

BACK

Plain back is the simplest and is great for people who launder their shirts at home, as there is less ironing involved.
Box pleat back (also know as the ivy pleat back) is the recommended style for buttondown shirts.
The side pleat back is a versatile classic that looks great with any style collar and front. This custom shirt style allows for a bit more room in the back.

BOTTOM

This finishing defines the way your shirt is going fall on your hips. If you tuck it in inside your trousers, you won’t be able to see the difference. This option is generally intended for smart casual looks.

POCKET

When ordering custom-made shirts, keep in mind that shirts look dressier without a pocket. But if you need a pocket, don’t hesitate to request one. The pocket is always an acceptable feature of a business dress shirt.

We have three pocket styles for your perusal: Diamond (pointed bottom),
